Mary Mary Displaying the Reality of Christian Living on Their Reality Show
Mary Mary is no longer just the name of a sister gospel group but also the name of a television show on WEtv.
“I think people have a misconception of what a Christian is,” Tina told The Associated Press, after the series debuted on WEtv. “I don’t know, some think we buy Christian soap, or go to like Christian restaurants. Everybody thinks we’re so spiritual, but that’s not the case. We’re gospel artists, but we make mistakes. We’re normal people who praise God and everybody will get to see that on the show.” Sisters Tina and Erica want to show non-believers that Christians are not perfect and often fall short of the standards God has set for them but that doesn’t change God’s love for them or their Christianity.
The sisters view the show as an opportunity to demonstrate first hand how the reality of Christian living versus someone sitting in church listening to a preacher. Christian living isn’t perfect and is equivalent to non-Christian living except that Christians have a support system through their faith in God. Tina and Erica know that through God their is hope and peace and all things are possible including dealing with the issues that life throws everyone’s way. Erica says, “The Scripture says to forgive, but what happens when you are really mad? Those are things we will work through.”
Erica and Tina are displaying the truth that being Christians doesn’t mean a perfect life or are perfect such as the world seems to want to belief. This message and show are their way of being Fishers of Men for God.
The show is on WEtv Thursday nights at 9PM.
