The Ultimate Christian Athlete – Tim Tebow
I’ve actually avoided Tim Tebow up to this point as a subject of blog. It seemed too easy to use him as a public 21st century example of Christianity. Just about everybody has already heard his name and even if someone doesn’t know him for playing football, they have heard something about his Christian beliefs.
I read an article today that changed my mind about using Tebow so soon on my blog.
Jets Quarterback Tim Tebow’s Virginity Worth A Report $1 Million Dollars Read Full Story Here
Noel Biderman the founder of AshleyMadison.com is offering any woman who can prove they have had sex with Tim Tebow a million dollars. Biderman doubts that Tebow is still a virgin and in fact he states, “Sports and sex (and of course, infidelity) go hand in hand. If Mr. Tebow is indeed abstaining from adult relationships, I would encourage him to find a nice lady or two and enjoy his youth and fame as much as possible.”
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots’ tight end, recently even said that he would be willing to take Tebow’s virginity.
REALLY!!!! Why the obsession with Tebow’s virginity?
In this era of professional sports where it seems as though we are hearing about scandals on a weekly basis, it is a breath of fresh air to actually see such a great Christian Role Model for our youth. I agree that it has become much harder to find a virgin getting married even among the most devout Christians these days, but there many who are. So why can’t a professional athlete be a virgin, who has probably been the most vocal ever about his Christian upbringing and his beliefs. Tebow is helping break the cycle of pre-marital sex and at the same time demonstrating God’s wishes for Christian living.
Tebow is remaining true to his Christian beliefs not because he has to but because he wants to maintain his relationship with his God. Football is Tebow’s platform for reaching millions and being a fisher of men. Those who think they can tempt Tebow into doing something against his Christian beliefs are gravely mistaken. They forget that he has a personal relationship with God who is stronger than any temptation by a man or woman.
I hope that more Christian athletes will take Tebow’s lead and not just say they are a Christian but shout it from the mountain tops that they worship God and live a Christian life. We might be amazed at how many professional athletes are actually Christians and in turn may help bring other professional athletes to God.
